In 2014 I started my own business making and selling teething jewelry made out of a child-safe and toxic-free silicone. I did everything from designing the jewelry, the website, the packaging, and the marketing materials.

The product was quite innovative at the time and filled a gap in the market due to its dual functionality as beautifully designed jewellery for mothers / parents and teething toy for babies. This led to a successful business in the UK with over 2000 necklaces sold via Etsy Marketplace, my own website, social media and local London stockists. Within a year, I was able to partner with a close friend and open a sister online store in Romania. When I relocated to Hong Kong at the end of 2015, I decided to close the UK business and focus on my career.  I sold the Romanian business to my associate and the business is still in operation which remains a personal source of satisfaction and joy.

Running my own business was a great experience – one that has taught me a lot about the importance of seizing an opportunity at the right time, understanding your customer base, and building a strong image and online presence.
